From Proposal to Wedding: Sreyan and Julie’s Swiss Alpine Celebration

Sreyan and Julie’s wedding took place at Bühlberg Restaurant by The Lenkerhof in Lenk, one of the most breathtaking locations in the Swiss Alps. As a luxury wedding videographer in Switzerland, I first met them during a remarkable moment before the wedding itself – a story that became the foundation of everything that followed. Their Alpine celebration was intimate, emotional, and cinematic, and the final wedding film turned out to be one of my most distinctive works yet.

  • Emma is a fearless storyteller

Emma isn’t just a videographer – she’s a fearless storyteller, a perfectionist, and an artist with a rare gift for turning fleeting moments into timeless treasures. She was a critical pillar in bringing our dream wedding to life, and we are endlessly grateful for her talent, her heart, and her dedication.

The Proposal: Falling in Love with Switzerland

Last year, I planned, photographed, and filmed Sreyan’s surprise proposal on the Petersgrat Glacier in Switzerland – a remote location only accessible by helicopter. We flew in with Air-Glaciers, landing on untouched snow high in the Swiss Alps.

It was August, so the snow had a late-summer texture rather than the bright white of spring, but the setting was still breathtaking. Julie had no idea what was about to happen. Disguised as part of the Air-Glaciers crew, I blended into the moment until the helicopter touched down. She thought it was simply a scheduled photo stop in the Alps, just the two of them.

Once in position on the glacier, Sreyan asked the question he had been planning for months. I captured every second, from her surprise to the joy that followed. After the proposal, we stayed on the glacier for a photo session before heading down to Wengen to continue their Swiss Alps engagement shoot.

At the time, I didn’t know that Sreyan’s proposal would bring them back to Switzerland for their wedding. But that day, they didn’t just say yes to each other – they fell in love with Switzerland. The trust we built during their destination proposal led them to invite me to be part of something even bigger: planning, photographing, and filming their Swiss Alpine wedding celebration. They returned from San Francisco with family and friends to celebrate in the Alps and asked me to help shape the experience as well as tell their story.

Planning and Building the Vision for a Swiss Mountain Wedding

While my primary work is as a videographer and photographer, I also plan intimate weddings, elopements, and proposals in Switzerland through my brand, The Swiss Concierge. (this should link to that page) For Sreyan and Julie, this meant my role went far beyond documenting their day. From the moment they decided to marry in the Alps, I worked with them to turn their ideas into a celebration that reflected both their style and the beauty of Switzerland.

  • When we decided to get married in Switzerland 8 months later, with only 4 months to plan, Emma was our first call.
Without hesitation, she jumped into action: helping us find our dream venue, connecting us to an incredibly talented network of local vendors, and setting us up for
    wedding planning success.
    – Julie and Sreyan

When their first choice of venue in Wengen no longer felt quite right, I introduced them to the Lenkerhof Gourmet Spa Resort in Lenk and the mountaintop Bühlberg Restaurant – a pairing that immediately felt like the perfect fit. Over the months that followed, I handled communication with the venue on their behalf, making sure every detail matched the atmosphere they envisioned.

I also sourced key suppliers, connecting them with the photographer and DJ. And when it came time to hand over the planning reins, I knew instantly that Leor from Meant To Bee Events was the right person to lead the final stages. She brought warmth, professionalism, and meticulous attention to detail, delivering exactly what was needed to bring everything together seamlessly.

With my local knowledge and trusted network, Sreyan and Julie had a team who understood the unique demands of a Swiss mountain wedding and could create the high-end, personal experience they wanted. By the time the weekend arrived, everything was in place—leaving them free to enjoy the people and moments that mattered most.

The Wedding Weekend: From Rehearsal to “I Do”

The celebration really kicked off the day before the wedding at Bühlberg. We all met there around 10:30 in the morning with the venue planner, Leor, and her sister, who was assisting her. We did a run-through of how the ceremony would unfold. It was a cool, damp day – quite cloudy for late July – and the mood was a little muted by the weather. But Sreyan and Julie didn’t mind at all. They were completely in their element, radiating positivity that was absolutely infectious. Their attitude set the tone for everyone.

After the rehearsal, there was a break before the evening welcome reception at the Berghaus Restaurant. Despite some on-and-off rain, the gathering was a lovely chance for guests to meet and mingle. Later, some of us even rode trotti bikes down the mountain, which added a bit of adventure to the evening.

On the actual wedding day, the forecast had predicted solid rain all day. But in the end, I truly believe that the couple’s carefree, joyful spirit brought a little luck. The rain held off for the ceremony and the Apéro, and the clouds lifted just enough to reveal mountain views we hadn’t seen during the rehearsal. It felt like a little gift from the Alps themselves.

  • On the wedding day, Emma worked seamlessly in the background, capturing the candid magic of our bridal party getting ready, embracing the high energy joy of our friends and family, and immortalising every look of love, sentimental tear, and every moment
    of pure happiness.

Creating the Film: The Wes Anderson Challenge

From the outset, I knew this would be no ordinary wedding film. While my signature storytelling style is rooted in truth, emotion, and spontaneity, Sreyan and Julie asked for something different – a Wes Anderson–inspired trailer to complement their full-length wedding film.

It was a challenge I didn’t take lightly.

Wes Anderson’s style is meticulous, stylised, and symmetrical. It’s narrative-led, highly directed, and deliberately paced. To achieve that look, I had to approach this project with a completely different mindset. It meant taking on the role of director more than ever before – blocking scenes, choreographing movements, and directing shots that normally would unfold naturally. That doesn’t come easily to me, because my filmmaking ethos is all about authenticity. But I wanted to honour their vision while still maintaining the integrity of the story.

So I shot their wedding two ways.

I captured all the candid, emotional moments as I usually would or their full documentary-style film. But I also carved out time during the day to film certain scenes intentionally. This meant guiding the bridal party through carefully composed frames, repeating specific actions, and building visual rhythm into scenes that felt like they belonged in The Grand Budapest Hotel or Moonrise Kingdom.

From the choice of music to the pacing of the edit, everything was crafted with intention. I used stylised title cards, bold graphics, and a distinct symmetrical flow, all of which required careful planning in advance and decisive choices during the edit.

This wasn’t just a fun creative twist. It was a technical, narrative, and emotional balancing act – fusing my journalistic approach with stylised direction.

The result? A Trailer that was joyful, unexpected, and totally bespoke.

Sreyan and Julie loved it. And for me, it was a powerful reminder that stepping outside your usual process can stretch and evolve you – not just as a filmmaker, but as a storyteller.

Supplier Spotlight: Leor, Meant To Bee Events

When I was introduced to Leor I immediately admired her calm, meticulous approach to planning. For Sreyan and Julie, I knew from the very beginning she’d be the perfect fit to step in and take over the reins. Her warmth instantly put the couple at ease, while her attention to detail ensured every element of the weekend ran seamlessly.

From managing the logistics of a multi-location celebration in the Alps to coordinating with suppliers and the venue, she brought a sense of assurance to the entire process. Leor didn’t just execute the plans – we all felt her genuine investment in making the day everything Sreyan and Julie had hoped for.
