A French-Inspired Gay Wedding in the Beautiful Austrian Countryside

by | Jun 5, 2019

“The point of marriage is not to create a quick commonality by tearing down all boundaries; on the contrary, a good marriage is one in which each partner appoints the other to be the guardian of his solitude, and thus they show each other the greatest possible trust.
A merging of two people is an impossibility, and where it seems to exist, it is a hemming-in, a mutual consent that robs one party or both parties of their fullest freedom and development. But once the realisation is accepted that even between the closest people infinite distances exist, a marvellous living side-by-side can grow up for them, if they succeed in loving the expanse between them, which gives them the
possibility of always seeing each other as a whole and before an immense sky.”

Rainer Maria Rilke

This poem holds much meaning to Isa and Natascha. The couple work together as a photography team – better known as my good friends, wedding photographers Belle & Sass.

But once they are not working, the gorgeous couple are happiest planning their next adventure – they love travelling and exploring together, discovering new places.

They wanted their own same-sex wedding to be as unpretentious as possible. So they chose to host their special occasion at the estate of Isa’s Mom – because it is ‘extremely beautiful with the right mix of charm and chaos’.

Their wedding was truly a wonderful occasion – a generous mix-up of several traditions integrated into their self-made ceremony.

Before their ceremony began, they burned sage as a cleansing ritual also used in shamanic ceremonies, then several guests read a quote or short poem on why and how the couple match so well.

The gorgeous brides then said their vows, exchanged the rings, kissed and followed the Jewish tradition of breaking the glass.

Isa and Natascha did not have a set dinner, but food on the table for everyone to grab as they wished with the speeches dispersed throughout.

The couple then began the Hava Nagila to open the dance floor up to those who were ready to kick off their shoes and dance.
