Rain Won’t Ruin Your Wedding When Love is all Around

by | Aug 25, 2019

Since she was a little girl, Lauren and her Dad had chatted about how one day she would get married in a marquee in the back garden and they would have fish and chips for dinner.

And, in July 2019, their dream garden wedding finally came true.

The weather may not have gone to plan for the couple – a deluge of rain interrupting what had been the hottest week of the summer so far with a heatwave across the UK. The weather broke the day before the wedding and the heavens opened.

It rained almost all day, which might have spoilt some couples’ plans, but Lauren and Tom embraced every moment of it and in the end it became very much a part of their celebrations.

The day began with preparations for the groom and his party at the charming Jorvik House Hotel – a 1750s house overlooking the 11th-century church of St Olave’s and the remains of St Mary’s Abbey. Before a sneaky trip to the Nag’s Head in Askham Bryan.

Lauren put the finishing touches at her parents’ home in Angram, a small village on the outskirts of York.

The couple then tied the knot at St Nicholas’ Church at Askham Bryan – a lovely 12th century church built in the Norman era before returning with their guests to Lauren’s family home for a reception.

The whole day was simply loving and befitting of a couple who are so close to their families. And, who wanted to make their wedding personal and relaxed.
