Planning a ski wedding, winter elopement or adventure wedding in the Alps?
From skiing and snowboarding on your wedding day to helicopters, mountain-top ceremonies and adventures in the snow, there are so many ways to create a wedding or elopement that feels completely your own.
I live in the Swiss Alps and have spent years filming adventure weddings, elopements and proposals across Switzerland and the wider Alpine region, including Austria and the Italian Dolomites.
There’s nothing I love more than skiing down a mountain of snow with a camera in hand. I’ve even hung out of helicopters and gone paragliding to capture the best film footage for my clients.
I’m based in Wengen, in the hearth Jungfrau region of the Swiss Alps and I am ideally located for filming adventurous alpine and mountain weddings, elopements and proposals.
And since I first wrote this article, I’ve filmed even more ski weddings and elopements here in Wengen and the Jungfrau Region.

But for now, here are some of the winter and adventure weddings I’ve captured across the Alps…
here’s a little behind the scenes to inspire you into action…
Avgi and Darren are what I call real adrenaline junkies. They’re active sky-divers and love snowboarding too. They got married in The Dolomites in Italy and as well as sharing their vows with one another on top of Col Pradat they also had a snowboarding session in between their ceremony and reception.
Alas, in all cases when I am skiing while filming, ski style is cast aside as I always have to take up the stance of ‘power snowplough’ to get the best footage images which are steady and action-packed.
But there’s always a chance for the couple to take a break and breathe in the beautiful scenery … I am always filming and I just don’t want to miss a moment!
Here’s the film I captured of Irene and Koen’s wedding in Fiss in Austria. A jam-packed day which began with a romantic First Look in the morning with the couple and guests heading straight up the mountain for some cake before taking on the mountains and skiing back down to the valley.
All that before they even got married later in the day, when the party really did begin.
Gerry-Rae and Nick love skiing and snowboarding and this passion took them to Austria to get married. Zell am See is one of the loveliest settings in the Austrian Alps and the perfect location for taking to the slopes on their wedding day.
It’s even how the couple made their way from ceremony to reception – by snowboard and on skis.

I’m also the go-to wedding cinematographer for elopement weddings, surprise proposals and pre-wedding shoots. Like when Chen Yi made a surprise Swiss Alps marriage proposal to Esther in view of The Eiger, a 3,967-metre world-famous mountain of the Bernese Alps. Of course… after she said yes we had to do something adventurous and we went sledging!

And let’s not forget when Brennan proposed to Amanda – they travelled all the way from the United States for a winter holiday in Wengen and The Jungfrau Region.
Brennan had seen many of my proposal films and loved the idea of filming his proposal to Amanda as well as some planned activities later in the day.
He popped the question to Amanda in perfect conditions …. There was no one else on the slopes and the sun was just rising over The Eiger. Then I filmed them enjoy a romantic lunch on the slopes of Grindelwald First, take an adrenaline ride on the First Glider and try some sledding in Wengen.
